FOX Sports Midwest Channels to Change to Bally Sports Midwest on 3/31

6:18PM March 30, 2021

On March 31, the Fox Sports Midwest and Fox Sports Midwest Plus channels will be changing branding/names to Bally Sports Midwest and Bally Sports Midwest Plus. The branding change is in name only and will NOT affect channel numbers. For the most part, all of the programming will also remain the same. All of the same teams will be covered on the channels despite the branding change.

Q: Why is the network name changing?

A: Sinclair Broadcast Group officially acquired the FOX Sports Regional Sports Networks (RSNs) in 2019. Sinclair was required to re-brand the networks as a condition of the acquisition deal. As part of the evolution of the acquired Regional Sports Networks like the Bally Sports Midwest Channel, Sinclair has partnered with the Bally's Corporation to re-brand the channel and enhance the sports viewing experience.

Q: Will the channel numbers for the Bally Sports Midwest and Bally Sports Midwest Plus change?

A: No. On GoSEMO Fiber television service, Bally Sports Midwest will still be channel 302, and Bally Sports Midwest Plus will be channels 303 and 304.

Q: Are there any changes to the teams carried on each network?

A: No. Viewers will be able to watch the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues, Kansas City Royals and other local favorites on the new Bally Sports branded regional sports networks, just as they had before.

Q: Are there any programming changes or additions coming?

A: There have already been programming additions to the regional sports networks since the Sinclair acquisition became final last year and more original and live event offerings are on the horizon.

Devices to Stream TV

12:59PM March 24, 2021

This #TechTuesday is about which devices allow you to stream TV. There are three main devices that give your TV capability to stream:
1. Streaming Devices. Devices like Amazon Fire Sticks and Roku Sticks cost anywhere from $30-$50 depending on which style you choose. These devices connect to the HDMI port on your TV, giving you access to most streaming apps imaginable.
2. Smart TVs. Most TVs nowadays are "smart TVs," meaning they have the capacity to connect to the internet and can download various streaming apps. Some Smart TVs have Amazon Fire Sticks or Rokus built in, allowing you choose which Smart TV format is the most convenient for you.
3. Gaming Consoles. Most newer gaming consoles have the capacity to connect to the internet and the ability to download various apps, including apps to stream TV.
When it comes to choosing one of these devices, it is ultimately up to you, which format you like better, and what you think will be the most practical for you and your family. If you want to keep your TV but add streaming, it is probably smarter to connect a streaming device or gaming console. If you're looking to buy a new TV, then it would probably be best to look for a Smart TV.

Fiber is the Future

5:26PM March 23, 2021

You need and deserve fiber-fast broadband services. That's why SEMO Electric Cooperative launched GoSEMO Fiber four years ago. For those who have GoSEMO Fiber, thank you for your support. We love to hear how fiber-fast broadband services has changed your life.
For those members waiting to be connected, we will get there. Your desire to be connected matches our desire to connect you. Your time is coming. How may you help? As a member, keep supporting us and be confident we will get to you. We can't wish it, but we will keep pushing forward to get the job done.
It was just 48 months ago yesterday that the GoSEMO Fiber project was approved by the board. We started from scratch. It took nearly one year to set up a network and build enough fiber to serve our first member-subscriber. Team SEMO and our construction partners are jumping hurdles such as rain, COVID-19 and the Polar Vortex to get the 2,000 mile job done by the end of Spring. Today, we have over 8,368 connected broadband services and growing every day. Our mission is to make your life better.
For non-members in areas we don't serve with electricity, we hear your urgent pleas for service. We will continue to seek funding and develop relationships to help you and the entire southeast Missouri region get fiber-fast broadband services in the future. Please continue to show your support at https://www.gosemofiber.com/ so we can show elected officials the true desire for fiber-fast broadband in rural Missouri.
Thank you - CEO Sean J. Vanslyke

Cheers to four years!

11:50AM March 22, 2021

It's amazing to see how much our broadband network has grown within four years. This is a big milestone, but we're not done yet! We will accomplish our fiber construction for all members-owners in 2021 because every member-owner deserves fiber-fast broadband services!

Protect your Photos with Google Photos

6:23PM March 03, 2021

The simplicity of capturing photos and videos is one of the best parts of smart devices. It has become easier than ever before to capture and save memories through our phones, tablets, and laptops.
But, sometimes devices aren't secure. They can crash, an update can wipe out all data, the device could receive unrepairable damage, etc., making the security of photos, videos, and precious memories uncertain.
Luckily, there's an app for that! Google Photos is a free app available for any smart device. Those with Google Accounts can sync their device media with Google Photos so that any photo or video taken/in the camera roll will be automatically uploaded to Google Photos. These photos are only visible to you, unless you want to share them, and can only be deleted from the Google Photos app. These photos can then be accessed on any device that allows you to reach your Google Drive.

Sun Outages for Spring 2021 will occur from March 2 – March 7.

6:00PM March 03, 2021

Shortly before the vernal equinox and shortly after the autumnal equinox, earth stations that receive satellite signals in the Northern Hemisphere experience sun outages for 5-15 minutes over the course of 3-7 days when the signal from geosynchronous orbiting satellites is obliterated (washed out) by solar radiation when the path of the satellites pass directly in front of the sun. After the 5-15 minute outage, the sun is no longer interfering with the signal from the satellite, and reception is restored.

Super condensed version:

The sun prevents satellite dishes on the ground from receiving cable channel signals from the satellite when the satellite moves directly in front of the sun and in the line of sight of the receiving satellite dish.
